Eastern Cape South · Regional IT team
Got an idea that needs a website, form or system?
Tell the regional IT team what you need. We help groups, districts and the region plan and build tech projects that make Scouting easier to run.
Projects only. Something broken? See where to get help.
Is it a project or a support request?
This site is for new things, or changes to things that already exist. The IT team plans these alongside everything else, so they need a little time.
For these, please contact your District Commissioner.
How it works
From idea to something people use, in four steps.
- step 1
Tell us about it
Fill in the form: the problem, who it's for and when you need it.
- step 2
We review it
The IT team reads every request and replies within 10 working days, sometimes with a few questions.
- step 3
We plan it together
We agree on what's needed, a realistic date and who does what. Sometimes an existing tool already does the job.
- step 4
We build and hand over
We build it, test it with you, and show you how to keep it running.
Give your project the best chance
Ask early
Aim for at least 6 weeks before you need it. Fixed dates, such as camp registrations, need the most time.
Describe the problem, not just the fix
Tell us what's going wrong today. There may be a simpler answer than you expect.
Bring your SGL or DC along
Projects that leaders support move faster, and more people end up using them.
Questions
What's an SD-ID number?
It's your member number on Scouts.Digital, the SCOUTS South Africa membership system. You'll find it on your Scouts.Digital profile. If you can't find it, ask your Scout Group Leader.
Can youth members submit a project?
Rovers can submit their own projects. If you're under 18, please ask your Scouter to send it in for you. We'd love to hear your idea.
Does it cost anything?
Sending a request is free. If a project would need paid tools or hosting, we'll talk through the costs with you before anything is bought.
Who decides what gets done first?
The IT team looks at how important the project is, how many members it helps, its deadline, and the time the team has available. If we can't take something on, we'll tell you why.
How will I know what's happening with my request?
You'll get a reference number (like ECS-IT-26-001) and a copy of your request by email. We email you again whenever its status changes, and you can reply to any of our emails with questions.
What happens to my information?
We only use it to handle your request, and only the IT team can see it. Read the privacy notice for the details.
Ready when you are
It takes about 10 minutes, and you'll get a copy by email.
